Jessica Anne Simpson born on July 10, 1980 in Abilene, Texas. is an American pop singer and actress who rose to fame in the late 1990s
She started singing in her Baptist church. In 1992 she auditioned for the New Mickey Mouse Club, that also starred future pop stars Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, but didn't get lucky enough., She attended B.J. Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas and was discovered at a church camp during summer by a head of a small contemporary Christian record label. She recorded an album over the next three years. However, the label folded before the record could be released. She dropped out in her senior year to tour and promote her demo album, which was funded by her grandmother, Joyce (thus the reason for the name of her 2004 holiday album, ReJoyce: The Christmas Album). She later earned her GED. During this time, she also toured with the Christian Youth Conference circuit performing with Kirk Franklin, God's Property and CeCe Winans. She and her father sold copies of the album after these performances.
Tommy Mottola of Columbia Records later obtained a copy of the album and, thinking she had potential as a pop singer and signed her to a recording contract.
Seeking to expand her popularity in the secular market, Simpson later signed to Sony and toured in support of boy-band sensations 98°. Her 1999 major-label debut Sweet Kisses launched the smash "I Wanna Love You Forever." A second studio effort, Irresistible, appeared in spring 2001. Despite the MTV coverage of the album's title track, Simpson's sophomore effort didn't fare as well as her first album. The following year, Simpson married her longtime boyfriend, 98° crooner Nick Lachey. She also went on to appear in several episodes of That 70s Show, but it took Simpson until summer 2003 to become a bona fide celebrity

During the summer of 2003, the reality show, Newlyweds, starring Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey began airing on MTV. Though she was moderately successful before the series began, the show quickly became a pop culture phenomenon and is credited with making her a household name, even among those who did not follow pop music or MTV. Later that summer, Simpson won three Teen Choice Awards; Female Fashion Icon, Choice Hottie Female, and Female Reality/Variety TV Star for Newlyweds.
Throughout the run of four seasons, Simpson epitomized the stereotypical dumb blonde, most notably when she asked Lachey whether the Chicken of the Sea tuna she was eating was in fact chicken or fish. She also indicated that she believed that buffalo wings were made from actual buffalo. Her ignorance helped turn the show into a huge hit, making the average rating for each episode about 1.4 million viewers while reaching a series peak of about 4 million viewers.
Simpson's third album, In This Skin, was released in August of 2003 to coincide with the series premiere of Newlyweds. It debuted at #10 on The Billboard 200 album chart with sales of just 64,000 in its first week. It rebounded after a special collectors' edition was released in April of 2004 and subsequently reached a peak of #2. It was eventually certified triple platinum, fueled largely by the couple’s television success on Newlyweds. It contained the hits “With You” (#14, 2004) and a cover of the Berlin song “Take My Breath Away” (#20, 2004).
The couple appeared in the television special The Nick and Jessica Variety Hour that aired in 2004 and drew comparisons to Sonny and Cher. Simpson released ReJoyce: The Christmas Album in late 2004 which peaked at #14 on the album chart and was later certified gold.
In 2005, Newlyweds won a People's Choice Award for Favorite Reality Show before wrapping shortly after.
In the summer of 2005, at age 25, Simpson made her first appearance in a motion picture as Daisy Duke in the movie-remake of "The Dukes of Hazzard". The film debuted at #1 at the U.S. box-office
Simpson also appeared on the film’s soundtrack, releasing "These Boots Are Made for Walkin” a cover of the 1966 Nancy Sinatra hit. The song peaked at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won a People's Choice Award for Favorite Song from a Movie in 2006.
In November 2005, after months of tabloid speculation, Simpson and her husband Nick Lachey officially announced their separation. Simpson filed for divorce on December 16, 2005, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple's divorce was highly publicized worldwide and was reportedly finalized on June 30.
Jessica Simpson announced on October of 2006, that she knew her marriage to Nick Lachey was over when he refused to join her on a charity trip to Africa, even though it was on their third wedding anniversary.
The couple reportedly sold their Calabasas mansion in which Newlyweds was filmed to Malcolm in the Middle star Justin Berfield for about $3.75 million.

Her fourth album, "A Public Affair, was released on August 29, 2006 via Epic Records. The album saw lower-than-expected sales, debuting at #5 on the Billboard 200 with 101,000 copies sold in its first week and, as of November 4, 2006, has sold only a little over 240,000 copies in the United States which is less than half of what her 2001 album Irresistible sold. A Public Affair dropped down to the lower part of the charts after only a few weeks out. Week number four saw the album slip down from number five to the sixties. Only after 10 weeks on the Billboard 200, it fell off the chart. The first single, "A Public Affair" reached the Top 20 of the Hot 100 but quickly fell off the charts. The music video for "A Public Affair" featured Eva Longoria, Christina Applegate, Christina Milian, Maria Menounos, Andy Dick and Ryan Seacrest. A second single, "I Belong To Me", was also released through her website and is now included on the CD itself. To date, it has not yet appeared on the Billboard Hot 100, making this Simpson's 4th single to not enter the top 100.
Her second movie, "Employee of the Month", co-starring Dane Cook and Dax Shepard was released in American cinemas in October 2006.
Jessica Simpson has received a good deal of publicity in the aftermath of her marriage to Nick Lachey. Following their break-up and pending divorce, She was reportedly linked to her Employee of the Month co-star Dane Cook, military/Navy Corpsman HM3 (FMF) Alfredo Menchaca, singer John Mayer, and, from The Dukes of Hazzard actor/comedian Johnny Knoxville. During the marriage several reports of a one night stand with Bam Margera surfaced which both denied at the time. Recently Bam Margera went on Howard Stern's radio show to "admit the truth" of those rumors.
Nick has never stood up against reports that Jessica cheated, saying that he didn't know whether the rumors were true, and he chose not to ask her about them. This indirectly reinforced the truth behind the rumors, and has tarnished Jessica's once innocent image.
Jessica Simpson's rep has repeatedly denied that she has dated anyone since her break-up with Nick. Magazines have also speculated that she was jealous of her ex-husband's growing stardom and relationship with television personality Vanessa Minnillo, though she has publicly denied this to be true.
According to British Esquire, Jessica has befriended actress Liv Tyler, and is planning a new joint album pending release in 2007, featuring songs and sound tracks dubbed from the epic movie trilogy Lord of the Rings.

While Nick and Vanessa have been dating for almost double (if not more) the time that Jess and John have, Jess and John got really serious, really fast. Jess attends almost all of his shows and they are nearly inseparable, even when he's on the road. Jessica Simpson Takes Orphanage for a Ride

Jessica Simpson has donated some serious swag to a Mexican orphanage.
The pop star passed along a brand new seven-seater van to the Casa Hogar Elim orphanage in Nuevo Laredo last week, publicist Cindi Berger confirmed to E! News .
Simpson won said vehicle at a swag suite at the MTV Video Music Awards last fall.
Not that she was too likely to keep the ride for herself—hitting up Hyde in a Chrysler Town & Country somehow fails to scream hot young Hollywood.
Per People.com, someone from Simpson's camp phoned Mama Lupita, the woman who runs the orphanage, to ask if she could use some extra wheels, then informing her that Simpson would be making a donation.
According to Chrysler, John Mayer's significant other originally snagged the much sportier Crossfire at the awards show bash, but requested to swap it for the van to get more mileage for the orphanage.
It's not the first good deed Simpson has done for the orphanage.
Simpson first visited the site when she was just 11 as part of a Texas church group and last year sparked rumors of pending motherhood when she announced she was "exploring options to further help these children in need," and said that she had been pondering adoption for some time.
Simpson soon clarified that she didn't have any immediate adoption plans, but she would eventually like to fund her own south-of-the-border orphanage after getting inspired by donating time and money to Casa Hogar Elim for years.
As it is, Ashlee's big sis has already kicked off her next donating initiative, putting up for auction on eBay the red dress she donned in her Super Bowl commercial for Pizza Hut. Proceeds from the gown will go directly to Mama Lupita's orphanage.
The van, meanwhile, is expected to be delivered next month.

Jessica Simpson has decided that it is time for a change. The star has apparently decided to drop her blond looks, but has yet to settle on a new color. Jessica recently made the transition from blond to redhead (an auburn shade). That didn't go over so well, as it is rumored that no one liked it all that much. As a result, she has dumped the red and is trying out a dark brunette look. She sported the darker style at Mr. Chow's in Beverly Hills this past week and most would agree that she looked much better.
It is quite amazing how different a new hairdo can make someone look. On Wednesday, a TMZ cameraman reportedly totally missed Ms. Simpson as she was entering Mr. Chow. Jessica didn't seem to like the lack of attention. Not wanting to miss out on some fan adoration, she reminded the photographer who she was.
According to the National Ledger, “the news of Jessica's presence, supporting an altogether new look, must have spread like wildfire because photogs soon gathered outside in hordes. As she came out they all complimented her on her new look.” Having received the attention that she had sought, Simpson told the TMZ cameraman “I know I got you good!”

She told Star magazine: “I want to adopt before I actually have my own kids. I want three kids - but I don't know if I can give birth three times. I'll have to see how much pain is involved first time round!”
“Ever since I was a kid I said I wanted to save the world somehow, I didn't know how. I think I'll end up doing things that can touch somebody in some way that's good - like through orphanages.”

Jessica Simpson joined John Mayer today for rehearsals in Jacksonville, ahead of his scheduled performance there on Thursday (25 January 2007)
Jessica Simpson and John Mayer arrived at Jacksonville Tuesday (23 January 2007) night on board Mayer's tour bus, after having left Miami earlier in the morning.
John is currently on a tour of Florida. Jessica linked up with John in Miami Monday morning. The two spent some quality time together that day and slept overnight at the Four Seasons' Presidential Suite. Tuesday morning they boarded John's tour bus and headed for Jacksonville.
John will return to Miami for a performance on Friday. Later he performs at Orlando on Saturday and Pensacola on the following Monday night.

But Jessica's friends are worried that she's more serious about John than he is about her.
For example, when he went home to spend the recent holidays with his parents in Fairfield, Conn., he never even mentioned his new girlfriend. “Jessica didn't come up once in conversation,” John's dad, Richard, tells In Touch exclusively. But Richard insists his son is “very private” about his love life. “We never pry,” he tells In Touch.
In other news, Jessica Simpson was told to stay away from a supermarket because she was distracting customers reports Monster and Critics.
The sexy star can't even go grocery shopping without being followed by paparazzi.
Jessica told Britain's Glamour magazine: "Two weeks ago, I was at Whole Foods and probably about 100 photographers were outside waiting for me.
"The manager gave me his card and said, 'Jessica, I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't come in during store hours. Give me a call and I'll open up early or you can come in after we close. But this is very distracting for all my customers.'
"I looked at him kind of shocked. Then I was just mad, not at him but at the situation. I couldn't even live my normal life anymore."

A new item from Life & Style Weekly states that the buxom blonde still shops for her one-time hubby and Reality TV co-star and even has had a special blue cashmere sweater made for him as a Christmas gift.
Even more shocking, the report says Jessica wants Nick 'home' for Christmas. The report claims that Jessica invited her ex over - not for a reconciliation - but so they can again become friends.
"Jess doesn't want Nick back," an insider tells the weekly entertainment magazine. "But they haven't seen each other in ages, and now she wants to change that." Another insider says in the magazine that "Jess still cares about Nick," and the gift and the invitation are meant to show it.
The Post Chronicle notes that a source in the UK has told Britain 's More magazine that Jessica nearly became a recluse after the break up. According to the article an inside tells the magazine:
"Earlier this year, she started staying home more and more. Her problems developed for a while and got worse after her divorce from Nick. She barely left the house unless she was working. Jessica, 26, told Britain's More magazine: “If my boobs ended up hanging round my waist, then I'd definitely get them pulled up!” Although she would be willing to have cosmetic surgery on her body, the ‘Dukes of Hazzard' actress is adamant she would never change her face. She added: “I'd never have anything done to my face. I like it the way it is.” Jessica admits she sometimes has days like all women when she is paranoid about her shape and looks. She explained: “I'm proud of my figure, but if I'm having an off day I'll just throw on a trenchcoat and heels and go out.”

Jessica Simpson's holidays may be ruined this year. The 26 year old singer received a call from ex-husband Nick Lachey telling her he plans to marry his new girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo in the very neat future. Reports say Nick called Jess because he wanted the news to come from him and not other sources like the paparazzi. The two apparently spent 40 minutes on the phone discussing the situation before ending the call on relatively good terms. Although Jessica acted as though everything was okay, sources say it was clear she was disappointed with the news.
Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson separated in November of last year, just after the release of the final season of "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica." Since then, Jess has been linked to a number of hot hollywood men like Maroon 5's Adam Levine, quarterback Tony Romo and, most recently, singer John Mayer. While Jess was out testing the waters, Nick was settling down with his new girlfriend, Vanessa Minnillo.
Sources also say that Nick Lachey has plans to marry the MTV host by the end of the year.

The star who reportedly turned to food for comfort after her failed marriage and album is currently filming ‘Blonde Ambition' with Luke Wilson in Louisiana but is not taking advantage of the great food as she is paranoid about gaining weight reports Female First.
During a break from shooting last week, Jessica visited Chili's restaurant with friends.
One diner revealed to Life and Style Weekly magazine: “She ordered Caribbean chicken salad but she only ate the chicken in it. She left everything else.”
A few days later, homemade gumbo was served on the film set but Jessica passed. A source on set revealed: “Luke said, ‘This is the best thing ever'. He had his whole face in it! But Jessica didn't touch it.
“She's not really eating while she's working because she's trying to stay slim.”
In November, Tina Fey revealed that Paris Hilton slammed Jessica as a fatty.
"Yeah, she wanted to make fun of all the girls she hates. She was like "I want to play Jessica Simpson, I hate her." She would come in the room and say "you should do a show about Jessica Simpson because she's fat."

Jessica and Luke are costarring in Blonde Ambition(described as a remake of 80's movie, Working Girl.)
They arrived at the upscale club Phoenix Underground so early that there were more employees there than patrons, according to a source at the club. "Luke was there the night before, and he wanted to show the place to Jessica," the source says. "She was very friendly to everyone." Wilson spent about four hours there on Wednesday evening, according to the source.
