Hilary Erhard Duff was born on September 28th, 1987, in Houston , Texas , to Bob and Susan Duff. At the age of six, she had been travelling with the Cechetti Ballet with her sister elder Haylie Duff, but she wanted to fulfill her dream of becoming an actress and start auditioning. Her first part was in the mini-series “True Women” (1997), but her first starring role was as Ellie in “Soul Collector” (released 1999), for which she won a Best Performance in a TV Movie or Pilot (Supporting Young Actress) Young Artist Award. Hilary also starred in “Casper Meets Wendy” in 1998, hr first big role in which she played the young witch Wendy.
Success came again as she took the role of the starring title character Lizzie McGuire in the #1 hit Disney Channel series "Lizzie McGuire" in 2001. "Lizzie" was extremely successful. In 2002, she made the Disney Channel movie “Cadet Kelly”. Hilary continues her upward spiral, guest-starring on TV shows, filming movies, recording albums, and doing television concerts. With the success of the series, The Lizzie McGuire Movie released to theaters in 2003 and debuted at #2, grossing an impressive US$42 million domestically. She was rated the #1 Hottest Teen Female Star for 2003 based on her acting, singing, public appearances, and charity work.
Hilary also appeared in “Agent Cody Banks” and “Cheaper by the Dozen” in 2003, “Raise Your Voice” and “A Cinderella Story” in 2004 and “The Perfect Man” and the sequel “Cheaper by the Dozen 2” in 2005. In 2006, “Material Girls” co-starring her sister Haylie and the animated movie Foodfight! Directed by Lawrence Kasanoff , which will be released in 2007.
As Hilary Duff was becoming a film and television star, she was also launching a recording career. Her first album “Metamorphosis” debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200, and eventually ascended to #1 in the following weeks and went on to sell more than 2 million copies with the #1 single “So Yesterday”. Hilary's latest album “Most Wanted” debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and was #1 in Canada and #8 in Japan . Her hit single Wake Up was the #1 video on MTV TRL and the #1 single on Radio Disney and AOL. Her second single “Beat of my Heart” video was also #1 on MTV TRL. Hilary's concert tours here in the States, Canada and Australia always sell out and she has plans to tour abroad soon in Japan and just finished her music promotion tour through Europe .
Hilary Duff launched her fashion and home label stuff by Hilary Duff in the U.S. , Canada , Australia and New Zealand and plans to expand into new categories and new territories around the world. Recently, she announced the launch of her teen designer brand Hilary Duff with the announcement of the first product launch imminent. She plans to launch a juniors line Fall 2007 in the U.S. and abroad.

Pop star Hillary Duff says she's OK! with Nicole Richie dating her ex-boyfriend, but it's the other way around when you hear the lyrics of several songs in her new album
The lyrical content of the deeply confessional album, Dignity, raised some eyebrows. In the title track, 19-year-old Duff savages a woman who would "show up to the opening of an envelope".
The character wears Jimmy Choo shoes, a fashionable brand coincidentally endorsed by Richie. And the song Gypsy Woman targets someone who's "got no shame ... bringing down the family name". The only problem is that the All-American girl swears she is not singing about the daughter of singer Lionel Richie.
"I don't have anything against her," Duff said in a recent interview. "I broke up with my boyfriend, and I expect him to date other people, and I don't know her, and I don't have a problem with her, and I really don't want her to think that I don't like her because she's dating my ex-boyfriend. I'm going to date people too, y'know?"
Specifically, Dignity is about the crazy individuals she encounters in Los Angeles, not only the infamous tabloid mainstays, but regular people who seem to think that "having the hottest bag ... makes you the coolest person," she said.

Hilary Duff is ready to date like a guy. The single actress-and-singer broke up from her long-term boyfriend, Good Charlotte lead singer Joel Madden, in 2006 and admits she is enjoying playing the field.
She said during a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest: "Dating is fun. I kind of feel like a guy! It's, like, I can do it now. But I feel kind of wrong at the same time."
"I've never gotten to date before, so it's kind of exciting. I've always just had a boyfriend, you know? I'm young!"
If the right man came along the 19-year-old star insists she would "go for it".
She explained: "What if I meet someone that I really am into, and they're really into me? If I'm feeling it, I'm going for it?"
Hilary has also revealed that she and Joel are on speaking terms despite their split and insists the pair have both moved on.
She added: "There was nothing - no fight, no, 'He did this, I did that.'
"It was just time for the two of us to move on and do different things.
"I had a really great relationship with him, and we still have a great relationship, which is really good and unusual. He's a good person, and I always will care about him."

Teen dream Hilary Duff and sister Haylie has reportedly painted the town red, after turning up at an LA club drunk.
US Magazine says Hilary was teetering over the women's restroom with one of her girlfriends and a very 'flamboyant male friend'.
Onlookers said the group was rather drunk and their actions were very inappropriate, even if they were in a nightclub.
They say Duff was extremely drunk and began staggering around the bathroom, bumping into people and shrieking.
The incident allegedly took place at LA hotspot, Hyde.
Hilary Duff and Joel Madden split?

Pop star and actress Hilary Duff and her boyfriend, Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden, have reportedly ended their relationship.
According to media reports Madden told fellow clubbers at Chicago, Illinois club Enclave that Duff had broken up with him. He said that the age difference - Duff is 19, Madden is 27 - caused problems in their relationship. Madden recently completed a tour in advance of Good Charlotte's new album 'Good Morning Revival', due for release in March 2007.
Madden reportedly said it was Duff who did the dumping, putting an end to their relationship of more than two years. The duo only went public with their romance last year, after the Lizzie McGuire star came of age. Duff recently appeared on Irish screens in 'Cheaper by the Dozen 2'.
